To illustrate this point, let me tell you about myself. I have been drawing my whole life. Growing up, I wanted to be an animator for Disney.

I took art classes in school, and one class in college, but instead of encouraging me, the teacher in college squashed my love of art for a time.

Rich, Luc, and I signed up for some art classes at Michael’s craft store, and really enjoyed them.

So we signed up for a community education class at Santa Fe College, taught by a professional artist. The class was 3 hours a session for 6 sessions. With the instructor’s guidance, I came a long way in just a few short weeks.

I was terrible at drawing dogs before class, even though I tried.

As a dog trainer, I really wanted to be able to draw my dogs. I would get frustrated because what I saw with my eyes and what was in my head is not what I could get on the paper. Here is an example:

If you told me at the beginning of the class that I could do the finish products, I would have laughed.

Are they perfect?

Probably not.

Am I happy with them?

Heck, yeah!

They are beyond what I could have ever hoped to do.
